Shining a Spotlight on Augusta County’s A+ Educators
Let’s give a big round of applause to our newest A+ Educators! 🎉 In this post, we’re thrilled to spotlight the latest nominees—dedicated teachers and staff recognized by their peers for their incredible commitment to students and fellow educators.
The A+ Educator Awards are our heartfelt way of saying thank you to those who go the extra mile every single day.
To celebrate their well-deserved recognition, each honoree receives a gift certificate—sponsored by Lingo Networks—to enjoy a locally roasted cup of coffee, pastry, or maybe a chai latte at Crucible Coffee in Downtown Staunton to celebrate their success!
Elementary School Winner: Kristen Hamlin
Position: First Grade Teacher
School: Guy K. Elementary School
Our elementary teacher of the month is Kristen Hamlin. Ms. Hamlin is a humble and graceful presence at Guy K. Stump Elementary, where she teaches First Grade. She is known for her unwavering steadiness and quiet dedication. Often the first to arrive and the last to leave, she sets the tone for excellence through her actions rather than words.
Middle School Winner: Eric Renne
Position: 7th Grade Math Teacher
School: Buffalo Gap Middle School
Mr. Eric Renne is our Middle School Teacher of the Month. Mr. Renne is a 7th grade math teacher at Buffalo Gap Middle school. He is a model of embracing change, not only this year as he became one of the first teachers to open BGMS, but throughout his teaching career in ACPS. He has embraced a new school, a new grade level, and new math standards.
He has worked hard to incorporate professional learning from the last two years into his classroom by designing engaging lessons that help students develop critical thinking and problem solving skills. Mr. Renne has served in multiple leadership roles in Augusta County and has piloted multiple changes to the middle school math program. He is a role model for his colleagues and a role model that all students can look up to, not just the students in his classroom. Not only is he an excellent teacher but his high energy, humor, and enthusiasm is contagious as he reads the daily afternoon announcements. For these and many other reasons, Mr. Renne is our Middle School Teacher of the Month.
High School Winner: Zach Morris
Position: Agriculture Teacher
School: Fort Defiance High School
The High School Teacher of the Month is Mr. Zach Morris. Mr. Morris is a first-year Agriculture teacher at Fort Defiance High School. Even though he is in his first year, he has already proven to be an invaluable member of an already strong Agricultural Program.
Along with his colleagues, Zach has worked to improve the flow, safety, and cleanliness of the lab space. He worked to install new storage lockers in the lab and spearheaded research for our agricultural labs to purchase new, innovative equipment, even offering his services to provide training to other teachers on the equipment once the purchases are made. Zach is an excellent addition to Fort Defiance High School, and his outstanding work is worthy of recognition. We are excited to see the great things Mr. Morris will continue to do for FDHS and Agricultural Education in ACPS.
Congrats to all of the A+ Educators award winners! We appreciate everything you do to make sure students in our community have an excellent education.
