The value of being local

I’ve been feeling nostalgic lately. Fridays always make me think of my high school football days.

I played wide receiver at what is now Staunton High School. Those small town, crisp fall football nights are hard to beat, and I still keep track of how the team plays every year.

Those are the kinds of things that happen when you’re a local.

Now that I work for Lingo, I realize the importance of local even more. It’s just different when you live, work, and play in a community versus just doing business here.

I get to serve people at businesses that I remember from being a kid.

When we do things like the Free Public Drive-In Wifi projects, we know that we’re helping out our neighbors, not just working in a sales territory.

We’re still dedicated to the communities that we brought telephone service to in the 1960s.

The thing about being local is that it can be tricky to tell who is truly local and who isn’t.

It’s kind of like food labels being able to claim they’re “all natural” when that might not technically be the case.

If supporting local business is important to you, just make sure you check to make sure that local really means just that.

As always, we’re here to help with any of your internet or managed services needs. We’re invested in seeing you succeed because we know the value you bring to our community (and we love supporting your dreams and goals!).
