Building Futures: Educators Making a Difference in Augusta County
Each month, we have the honor to spotlight three exceptional educators who go above and beyond in their dedication to students and their communities. These A+ Educators exemplify the very best of teaching — blending passion, innovation, and heart to create meaningful learning experiences. We’re proud to recognize the individuals who make a lasting impact in the classroom and beyond.
🌟 Janie Elmore – Clymore Elementary School
This month, we celebrate Janie Elmore, 3rd grade teacher at Clymore Elementary, for exemplifying excellence in fostering a classroom culture grounded in respect, reflection, and purposeful learning—where students are empowered to think critically, persevere through challenges, and continually grow.
Janie’s classroom environment nurtures learning and encourages students to take academic risks with confidence. Mistake-making is viewed as a natural and essential part of learning, and the strong relationships cultivated with students foster mutual respect, trust, and a genuine enthusiasm for learning. Instruction is intentionally designed to build upon prior knowledge, with consistent use of representations, academic language, and strategies that reinforce deep understanding. This thoughtful approach not only deepens student learning but also enables learners to apply their knowledge and make meaningful connections across content areas. We thank Ms. Elmore for her efforts and congratulate her as our Elementary Teacher of the Month!
💻 John Sellers – Wilson Middle School
Our Middle School Teacher of the Month is Mr. John Sellers. John has been a Technology Education teacher at WMS since the 2021-2022 school year. Prior to that year, he was a science teacher at BMMS. John brought with him his tremendous experience as a science teacher and threw himself into Tech Ed instruction. Not only has John worked well with his students and colleagues to grow the Technology instructional program, but he has also fully embraced his role as TSA advisor. John has consistently brought students to the regional, state, and national TSA events and has had students who regularly win awards at each level.
Mr. Sellers is a great collaborative team player and has helped his colleagues across the division as they take on the challenges of Tech Ed and TSA. In any assignment, whether for his classroom or at the division level, John provides his full support and gives his all to what he is working on. Mr. Sellers has been a great addition to the Tech Ed program and is worthy of this recognition. We thank him for all he does to promote Technology Education and the TSA student organization.
🎶 Andrew Fauber – Stuarts Draft High School
This month’s High School Teacher of the Month is Mr. Andrew Fauber. Under Mr. Fauber’s exceptional direction, the Stuarts Draft High School Band program has flourished, showcasing excellence across every ensemble. This year, the Draft Express Marching Band claimed its second consecutive Single-A State Championship, a testament to his leadership, vision, and the dedication of his students.
Mr. Fauber’s ensembles have consistently produced outstanding performances in marching, jazz, and concert ensembles, as well as, Winter Guard which received the bronze medal last winter at AIA Championships. His commitment to musical excellence has elevated the Stuarts Draft program to state and national recognition, with an impact that extends well beyond the borders of Augusta County.
Mr. Fauber’s influence is also evident in the achievements of his individual students, who regularly excel at county and district events and have even earned placement in All-Virginia Jazz and Concert Bands. Mr. Fauber’s passion, high expectations, and unwavering belief in his students have built a culture of pride and excellence that continues to make the entire Draft community proud!
